Cracow

in brief

There are many reasons to visit the former capital of Poland.

City Hostel Kraków - Kościół MariackiDuring the day: historical, thoughtful, colourful, here and there enlivened with the songs of street artists. At night: seductive, full of life, throbbing with the rhythm of popular clubs. This is what contemporary Krakow is like: full of contradictions. However, this is just one of the reasons to visit the former capital of Poland.

With a frequently very turbulent history going back more than a thousand years, Krakow is among the oldest cities of Poland. This former seat of Polish kings is full of historical buildings, with the Wawel Castle or the St. Mary’s Church springing to mind as the most famous. It is also an exceptional university town and a recognised centre of culture.

Tradition, tradition, tradition ...

All in all, culture is Krakow's lifeblood.  The city attracts crowds of tourists to its innumerable museums, galleries, theatres, concerts and festivals. It is remembered for its Nobel Prize winners and great personalities like Mrożek, Lem, Grechuta, Penderecki or Kantor.

The atmosphere of this city cannot be faked. Rows of real Galician cafes and restaurants stretch along historical streets and tempt crowds of tourists to enter. However, it is easy to find an interesting, secluded place where to get out of the rat-race, rest and succumb fully to the charm of the city. However, this is just one of its faces. The other is much more dynamic.

Krakow belongs to the young

Great opportunities attract droves of students, artists and tourists from all over the world. In the evening, our clubs are bursting at the seams, every few steps you will hear music tempting you to dance, the place gets full of colour and energy. Everyone will find something for themselves in the rich entertainment offering of the city.

Fortunately, you don’t have to go far to find it. The majority of venues are concentrated around the Market Square and the popular Jewish district of Kazimierz, which is why our guests appreciate the exceptional location of the City Hostel.
